The Diaspora exhibition displays specially commissioned contemporary works of art from film makers, choreographers and musicians: Jeff Mills, Brice Leboucq, Caroline Cartier, Jean-Pierre Bekolo, Mahamat-Saleh Haroun, Yousry Nassrallah, Mathilde Monnier, Agnès Godard, Claire Denis and more. All of these creations embody what the African diaspora has brought to the regions of the world that have welcomed it.
About the exhibition
The exhibition provides an unexpected approach to diaspora: it reveals the artists’ creations inspired by exile and life outside of their home country. It deliberately shows diaspora, not as a loss of identity but on the contrary, as an enriching source of contact with new horizons. Far from limiting the subject to the painful question of a link with a geographical origin or community, it highlights the creative energy that is unique to each individual’s journey.
