The voodoo priest, actor, singer and dancer Erol Josué takes us on a sacred, intimate and festive musical and intellectual journey with “Pelerinaj” [Pilgrimage], a recording and accompanying book.
About the concert
A voodoo priest, actor, singer and dancer, Erol Josué is a curious combination of time and space, like the voodoo spirits that possess him. Director of the Haiti National Bureau of Ethnology since 2012, he seeks to convey and preserve his country’s intangible heritage.
To celebrate his recording and accompanying book “Pelerinaj” [Pilgrimage], an initiatory musical laboratory and compendium retracing his journey, Erol Josué performs as part of a sextet on the stage of the Claude Lévi-Strauss Theatre in a unique show, a rewriting of voodoo songs, contra dances and intimate monotonous singing with other surprises from this storyteller and lover of French songs, which aptly and humorously conveys the complexity and surrealist poetry of his country.
