At the end of the 2022 sound residency ‘La Réserve des non-dits’ (The Reserve of the Unspoken), the sounds recorded in the tower by Youmna Saba were used to create a sound library that will be added to the museum's media library collection so that it can be consulted, shared, reused, extended, and more.

Youmna Saba wanted this sound bank to be "a renewable and ever-expanding resource; an invitation to musicians and composers to explore this resource as raw material for creation, and also to researchers to rethink these instruments in terms of their current state and behaviour, and to re-examine the conservation practices and criteria that underpin research in musicology, organology and instrument making. "

Download sounds

You can download all files at once or individually, original files (AIF format) or more compressed files (MP3 128 kbs), files for PC or MAC.

  • For ease of use, .csv and .pdf tables containing all the data accompany the sound files in the download baskets.
After clicking on the download icon, a window will open. Enter ‘Other reason’ in the ‘Intended use’ menu, tick the box ‘I accept the terms and conditions without reservation...’ then choose your download type (express or custom).

Download conditions

The recordings from the Réserve des non-dits can be downloaded and used freely by anyone, for personal or professional purposes, under a Creative Commons Attribution CC BY licence. This licence authorises the free use of the files, provided that the author's name is mentioned when they are used.
