Nomad workshops

The museum is continuing its extramural initiatives to reach the people of the Ile-de-France region thanks to the Nomad Workshops programme. A wide range of activities run across the region, in close collaboration with local stakeholders.

An innovative and wide-reaching initiative, the Nomad Workshops aim to take the museum’s cultural programme outside its walls and make it accessible to the inhabitants of the Île-de-France region. Long-term partnerships, forged since 2013 with towns and urban areas within the region, have paved the way for new links to local communities and make use of all cultural venues (multimedia libraries, cultural centres, sports halls, community centres, shopping centres, etc.).

A series of special events and activities (workshops, presentations of works from the collections, talks by curators, conferences, etc.) organised in close coordination with local cultural stakeholders and held across all of the partner town’s venues. In return, the programme is entirely free of charge for all groups within the region (schools, recreational centres, associations), including distribution of an extramural “Travel Box” and specific projects put in place with local structures.

Since their launch in 2013, the Nomad Workshops have been introduced at four sites: Cergy-Pontoise, Clichy-Montfermeil, Grand Paris Sud and Argenteuil (2018-2021).
