Tangled ropes, the gathering of heterogeneous objects, small indescribable piles: such are the African divination objects presented in this book. These shapeless figures, often seen as repulsive and strange, are much more familiar than one might think at first glance and speak of life and of the innumerable threads of existence, which never cease to be knotted and undone. It is not a question of paying homage to a mysterious and fetishist Africa, but rather to honor human creativity and the variety of shapes and forms which it takes on.
